Ashley Benson, Jake Lacy, Justin Long, Ron Perlman star in action pic ‘Stranglehold’

Ahead of the Toronto International Film Festival, sales outfit Great Escape has announced that it has secured the worldwide sales rights to Stranglehold from actor-turned filmmaker Clark Duke (Arkansas) and Yale Productions (The Kill Room). Shot this summer and now in post-production, the film’s cast is headed by Ashley Benson (Spring Breakers), Emmy® nominee Jake Lacy (The White Lotus), Justin Long (Barbarian) and Golden Globe® winner Ron Perlman (Hellboy).

Great Escape will introduce the film to buyers at the market.

A heist thriller with shades of Dog Day Afternoon, Die Hard and the Coen Brothers, Stranglehold centers on Bailey (Benson), a stripper with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer. She and her Army vet husband Tim (Lacy) are fed up with their lives of barely getting by, so they decide to rob the strip club that employs her during the big Christmas Party. Unbeknownst to them, a slew of out-of-town gangsters are also in attendance.

Duke wrote the screenplay alongside brother Chandler Duke and Billington Garrett. Producers include Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman and Michael Day of Yale Productions.

Stated Duke, “I am thrilled to be making my second feature with such an amazing cast. Stranglehold is a continuation of many themes I explored in Arkansas, very much a movie about where we are right now, and I cannot wait for people to see it.”

Great Escape’s TIFF slate also includes the action film Midnight starring Milla Jovovich, Rosario Dawson and Alexandra Shipp; the Alicia Silverstone-Karl Glusman erotic thriller Pretty Thing from director Justin Kelly; spy pic Fog of War with John Cusack and Brianna Hildebrand; and Oldenburg selection Electra starring Oscar® nominee Maria Bakalova, Jack Farthing and Abigail Cowen.
